Tom Roberts
Tom Roberts is the Global Director of Plumbing, Mechanical and Gas for the International Code Council (ICC), leading all PMG‑related initiatives outside North America. In this role, he works with governments, industry bodies and academic institutions worldwide to support the development, adoption and implementation of safe, effective and future‑focused building and plumbing standards.
Tom also holds board representation with the International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction (CIB), contributing to global research collaboration and innovation across the built environment. In Europe, he is a Non‑Executive Board Director for the Unified Water Label Association, supporting initiatives that drive water efficiency and sustainability across international markets. Locally, Tom serves as Chair of Standards Australia’s WS‑014 Committee, responsible for the AS/NZS 3500 suite of standards governing the design and installation of plumbing and drainage systems and is an advisor to the Australian Federal Government's Water efficiency Labelling and standards Scheme. He has previously held a senior leadership position with the Australian Building Codes Board, where he oversaw the development of the Plumbing Code of Australia and led major policy reforms, including the introduction of new pipe‑sizing verification methods and the implementation of lead‑free product requirements.
A passionate advocate for plumbing research and innovation, Tom is a regular presenter in Australia and internationally, working closely with governments and industry leaders to promote, educate and strengthen building and plumbing safety solutions worldwide.
