With a background in physics, a decade working in scientific communications roles and then 2 decades working in driving improved sustainability outcomes for the property industry, Steve combines technical skills with deep experience in optimising property operations and developments. Steve recently left his long term role as Head of Sustainability at GPT (General Property Trust) where he led decarbonisation efforts to certify GPT’s portfolio carbon neutral as a part of their net zero plan. In parallel, he drove the delivery of GPT’s nature plan to manage impacts of the retail, logistics and office portfolios as well as investment in Australian native forest restoration projects to counterbalance some of the nature-related impacts whilst removing carbon from the atmosphere. Now in his role as a Sustainability Strategy Consultant, Steve is advising local and international property organisations on strategies to improve their sustainability outcomes while also having the opportunity to pursue a passion of restoring natural environments through his work with Greenfleet - an Australian not-for-profit organisation that specialises in biodiverse forest restoration carbon removal projects.
