Associate Professor Alex Filkov is an internationally recognised leader in wildfire behaviour research, with a background in mechanical engineering. His research advances understanding of fuel ignition and combustion, dynamic and extreme fire behaviours, wildland to urban fire transitions, and the fire performance of structural materials. His recognition as an international leader in fire behaviour is evidenced by invited keynotes, leadership roles in international committees and consortia, awards for research excellence and international funding. He has an extensive collaborative network including industry, peak bodies, and government agencies.
