Phil Buckley is the CEO of the Australasian Timber Flooring Association (ATFA), representing the timber and resilient flooring industry across Australia and New Zealand.

With a background as a timber flooring contractor, business owner and industry inspector, Phil brings a practical perspective to the challenges facing construction, particularly around product performance, durability, installation quality and extending the service life of building materials.

In his role with ATFA, Phil works across industry standards, technical guidance, training, dispute prevention and industry advocacy. He has a strong interest in how better design, specification, installation and maintenance can reduce premature product failure and unnecessary replacement — important considerations in moving construction toward a more circular model.

Phil’s focus is on translating broad industry and sustainability objectives into practical approaches that can be implemented by manufacturers, suppliers, contractors and building professionals.
