Peter Wong

Professor Wong champions research in off-site construction manufacturing, virtual reality in construction, carbon accounting, carbon reduction in the built environment, organizational learning, sustainable housing, and construction dispute resolution. As of March 2023, his research endeavours have led to over 120 publications accepted or published in top-ranked refereed journals and conference proceedings. He was awarded on a competitive basis multiple research grants amounting to A$3 million dollars, including the Victorian Building Authority Research Grant project for developing a virtual reality (VR) based online self-evaluation platform to reduce the compliance risk of the building and plumbing works. The other prestigious Australia Research Council Linkage project, "Efficient construction: analysis of the adoption of integrated supply chains for innovative offsite housing manufacturing systems", helped guide the effectiveness of offsite manufacturing and improved project delivery. Professor Wong is also leading research projects under the Sustainable Built Environment National Research Centre.

Professor Wong is leading the construction management discipline at RMIT University. He is the Melbourne Hub Chair of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB). He is also a member of the Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (AIQS) Education Board and the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Board of Assessment of Professional Competence (APC). At the international level, he is the Associate Editor of the ICE Proceedings: Management, Procurement and Law and the ASCE Journal of Legal Affairs and Dispute Resolution. He is the external examiner of the undergraduate and/or postgraduate construction management programs at the University of NewCastle Australia, University of South Australia, Western Sydney University and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

Professor Wong has rich teaching experience in Hong Kong, Singapore, Sydney and Melbourne. He raised the profile of RMIT internationally. Construction Management students supervised by him World third-runner up in 2020, first runner-up in 2018, and World championship in 2014 in the CIOB Global Student Challenge competition. He is a chartered quantity surveyor and a chartered builder with solid industry experience. He worked as a quantity surveyor with Rider Levett Bucknall Ltd, and was involved in a number of prestigious construction projects that amount to A$1.8 billion.
