Muthukumar is a Doctoral Candidate in Built Environment within the School of Property, Construction and Project Management at RMIT University, Melbourne. His doctoral research aims to explain the relationships among environmental conditions, dwelling characteristics, occupant behaviours and indoor air quality in dwellings in Inner West Melbourne in current and future climate scenarios. Muthukumar holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Anna University, India and a Master’s degree in Building Services Engineering from Brunel University London, UK. His Masters dissertation dealt with investigating the overheating and condensation risks of retrofitting internal wall insulation in semi-detached villas in the UK. He has more than seven years of experience working as a Mechanical Engineer in contracting and consulting companies in the Middle East, working on the design and installation of mechanical building services such as HVAC, plumbing and firefighting systems. His passion lies in designing energy efficient buildings with healthy indoor environments for occupants.
