Michael Staunton
Michael Staunton is an accomplished engineering and construction leader with 25 years of experience delivering major transport and energy projects across Australia, UK, Asia and the Middle East. He has played a pivotal role in guiding complex public infrastructure programs, including Melbourne’s Suburban Rail Loop Project and the Level Crossing Removal Project.
Recognised for his strategic leadership, Michael combines deep technical expertise with a strong commitment to innovation and community outcomes. During his research at the University of Cambridge, he developed a strategic innovation readiness framework to help organisations navigate system complexity and accelerate the adoption of new solutions, tested on low-carbon materials but applicable across diverse sectors.
Michael holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) from The University of Melbourne and has recently submitted his dissertation for a Master of Construction at the University of Cambridge. A Chartered Engineer (CPEng) and Fellow of Engineers Australia (FIEAust), Michael is passionate about ensuring that major infrastructure programs are not only delivered successfully but are thoughtfully designed to enrich the communities they serve.
