Statement: I am passionate about seeing more women in construction, from Project Managers, Engineers, Supervisors, Cadets, Trainees/Apprentices and Trades onsite. I believe all workers deserve the right to respect in the workplace and to go home at the end of the day to their families safe, however as a women in construction I know this comes with barriers that are not always visible and seen as easily as ill-fitting PPE and tools that are not the right size for our hands (both of which are issues for sure that need to be dealt with). Ensuring that women in construction are safe physically (by having correct fitting PPE and the right tools for the job), psychologically (support from allies of women in the industry and supporting each other) but by also empowering women through knowledge, upskilling, positive role models and shared experiences that allow women to stand up, march forward and take construction into the future by making a difference not just for the here and now but for all women and girls of the future is important to me.
