Statement: When I was working in the contracts and procurement department at one of India’s leading real estate firms, I was the only woman on my team. At first, I didn’t think much of it—I just wanted to do my job well. However, over time, I began to notice that the “only” feeling followed me into meetings, site visits, and decision-making rooms. That’s when I realised how much representation matters. Now that I’m studying Construction Project Management in Australia, I want to be that visible voice for other women, especially those who are just starting or come from culturally diverse backgrounds like mine. Most recently, as a Volunteer Minister in Melbourne, I have helped children from migrant families with their schoolwork. Many of them come from homes where English isn't the first language, and I see firsthand how much of a difference a little support and encouragement can make. I know what it feels like to work hard and still second-guess whether you belong. That’s why being an ambassador is more than just a title for me—it’s a chance to shift that narrative, to show that women can not only thrive in construction but lead, innovate, and change the game. I’ve always believed in supporting others, whether that was mentoring students during my time with the Robin Hood Army or helping coordinate food drives during COVID. This is just an extension of that same spirit: using my voice and experience to uplift others and help create a more inclusive and balanced industry.
