With over 20 years of experience in architectural and urban design, Alison Potter is a Design Principal at HDR. Her professional journey spans leading international firms, including Hassell, Grimshaw, and Foster and Partners, where she developed a strong focus on sustainable design. Alison has led award-winning projects across the public and private sectors internationally, including the University of Melbourne Fisherman’s Bend Campus and the RIBA international award winning Masdar Institute of Science and Technology, a university research campus powered entirely by renewable solar energy. The design integrates passive and active environmental strategies, such as low carbon materials, self-shading facades, photovoltaic systems, and natural ventilation, setting a benchmark for sustainable architecture in the region. A Living Future Accredited Professional (LFA), Alison is committed to low-carbon, ecologically integrated design. She is also a contributor to the Australian Institute of Architects’ National Climate Action and Sustainability Committee and is an active member of the Office for Design and Architecture SA and the City of Melbourne Design Review Panels.
