Presented in partnership with the Australian Passivhaus Association, this panel explores how retrofit can transform existing buildings and accelerate Australia’s transition to net zero. As the urgency to decarbonise intensifies, existing buildings have emerged as one of the greatest challenges—and opportunities—with much of today’s building stock set to remain in use for decades. Bringing together voices from design, engineering, policy and finance, the panel will explore the growing momentum behind a “radical retrofit revolution”, including ambitious retrofit strategies and how Passivhaus and EnerPHit Standard can support high-performance outcomes. The discussion will also consider innovative technologies and new delivery models, while addressing practical challenges including cost, regulation, skills and coordination across the sector.
