A Progress Update on Sento, Melbourne’s Wellness-Focused Project

A Progress Update on Sento, Melbourne’s Wellness-Focused Project

In a significant development for Melbourne's evolving skyline, Holder East, the developer, has secured over $80 million in presales for Sento, a pioneering project set to introduce Melbourne's first urban onsen.

The 48-storey structure situated at 56 Clarendon Street will showcase a private tea house, lavish sky garden, and upscale wellness facilities inspired by Japanese design traditions.

Sento will comprise only 140 apartments, encompassing one, two, and three bedrooms, alongside penthouses crafted by a globally renowned firm yet to be disclosed.

The initial nine levels of the project will host a 126-room luxury onsen hotel, offering wellness encounters rooted in Japan's ancient bathing customs.

CJ Wu, Chief Operations Officer at Holder East, highlighted the strong appeal of Sento to interstate and international buyers seeking a sophisticated urban abode in one of Melbourne's most vibrant districts.

“Melbourne is on the cusp of a significant transformation, with population growth, major infrastructure investment, and relative value compared to other states all drawing renewed attention to the city,” Wu remarked.

The prime location of Sento in the heart of Southbank, opposite Crown and near Melbourne's cultural and dining hubs, has resonated with interstate and overseas purchasers in search of an elegant city retreat in a globally recognised locale.

Wu underscored Sento's unique concept, stating, “Additionally, Sento is designed to offer balance and clarity in the urban context, drawing inspiration from Japanese wellness traditions.”

“From the private teahouse to the secluded onsen garden, every detail reflects the city-zen spirit, one that prioritises rest, ritual and architectural calm.”

Crafted by acclaimed architects FK, Sento's minimalist design ethos incorporates natural hues, sunlit spaces, and refined simplicity.

Residents will enjoy amenities such as a Japanese-style bathhouse, private teahouse, serene gardens, a spacious sky garden, yoga studio, and fitness center.

Building on Holder East's successful Oasis precinct in South Melbourne, home to Australia's inaugural Hyatt House, the Sento hotel will feature a dedicated entrance and elevator, ensuring privacy for both hotel patrons and residents.

The release of penthouses on levels 36 to 48 is anticipated to set a new standard in luxury design.

Sento was officially launched on July 23.
